Father’s Day Gift – Necktie Coaster

Sharing is caring!

A necktie on a crisply ironed white shirt. That’s an image of how my father looks as a businessman. This two-part construction necktie coaster is very simple to make and great idea for a last minute Father’s Day gift! Get the free crochet pattern below or you can purchase ad-free, printable PDF on my Etsy, Lovecrafts, or Ravelry!

Father’s Day is coming up in next Sunday! Today, I’m bringing back a pattern I made 3 years ago! (You can read my post from 3 years ago here.) As I read back my pattern, I noticed some parts did not make sense. It was pretty embarrassing to read it. I had to update it now that I have more consistent format.

Great Handmade Father’s Day Gift

When you were a child, what did you give to your parents as a gift? As a child, you barely had a money to buy anything expensive, so you probably drew a picture of your parents and that’s the gift. A gift was usually handmade that you put your whole heart into because you want to make them happy.

My mother once told me that as a parent, she would always be happy and appreciate a gift anything that a child gives. I’m sure my father feels the same way. My family is not really a “gift-giver”; we’re more like “let’s-go-eat-and-celebrate” type of people. So this coaster is probably my first handmade gift as a grown-up (All the other times were bought-items).

When I gave this to him last year, he really appreciated it. He used it all the time so it became very flat! Plus it got really dirty, so for this year’s gift, I made 4 new coasters. He now can wash them more often and use them for many years!

Pin it now, crochet later!

A Color That Reminds You of Your Father

I used Lily Sugar ‘N Cream, which is very reasonable priced cotton yarn you can find in JOANN and Michaels. There are lots of color variation: from solid to ombre to even scented ones. The original size has 120yds/109m, and you can make about 7 coasters.

White shirt is the only color my father has when he wears a tie. He only wears blue-tone necktie (and some other colors here and there). Ever since I was little, I saw my father in a suit with tie more than casual clothes. I know every fathers out there dress up differently, so please choose a color that reminds you of your father!
