What is CAL?
If you’ve never done a CAL before, it stands for “crochet along”. It’s an event where each week, part of a pattern is released and then you work through it over the course of the event. For this crochet along, we’ll be working through this blanket pattern and then having a fun community for the event in E’Claire Makery’s Facebook group!
Did You Miss the Previous Squares?
My Cherry Blossom C2C square is 11th square out of 12 squares. When you make all 12 squares, you join them together (recommended: 3 squares wide by 4 squares long) to create one big blanket! You’re more than welcome to use each square for anything! A matching pillow cover would be cute! To get an access to rest of the squares, click the button below!
Inspiration
I love all kinds of flowers, but cherry blossom is very meaningful to me. It is symbolic flower of Japan, where I am from. I remember going back to Japan during spring season few years ago, and my aunt took me to a garden full of cherry blossoms! (Check out the blog post about my trip here) It was so beautiful, and I wanted to incorporate that beauty in to the square.
A Yarn I Used
For this square, I used Caron Simply Soft. It is categorized as aran/worsted (#4) weight yarn, but it’s definitely thinner yarn than many other worsted weight yarn. Because you can use any yarn you like for this Flower Garden Blanket CAL, you can even go for bulkier yarn to make much bigger blanket!

CROCHET PATTERN
MATERIALS:
- Caron Simply Soft [1 skein = 315yd/288m, 6oz/170g, category 4 worsted weight]
SIZE:
- Approximately 16.6″ by 16.6” (42.2cm by 42.2cm)
GAUGE:
Make sure to check your gauge! Please use any other hook size if you do not get the same gauge using the provided hook size.
- 6 x 6 squares = 4” x 4” (10cm x 10cm)
PATTERN NOTES:
- Work in half double crochet C2C (corner-to-corner)
- Each square is made up of CH 2 and 3HDC
- The graph is read from the lower right corner diagonally up towards the top left corner.
